Our Pastor

Rev. Peter Foss grew up in Wellesley Massachusetts. He graduated from Colby College, where he met his wife Linda Marsh. He received both his M.Div. and D.Min. from Bangor Theological School. In 1973, Peter became Associate Minister at the West Medford Congregational Church and Pastor of the North Street Church. These two churches had united with the Marion Street Church in a Shared Ministry to this Boston suburb. The Foss' oldest daughter Sara was born in 1975.

Moving to New Hampshire in 1978, Rev. Foss served as Pastor of the Smith Memorial Church in Hillsboro for 12 years and then the West Lebanon Congregational Church for 13. Two more daughters, Rebecca and Lesley, were born. Linda worked in preschool education in Hillsboro and as a paraprofessional and reading instructor in the White River School System in Vermont.

In 2003, the Fosses moved to a family home in Scarborough Maine, which they are currently renovating. Since the move, Peter has served as Interim in the First Congregational Church of Wakefield NH and at South Freeport Church. In Wells Maine and at State Street Church in Portland, he has provided Sabbatical coverage.

Peter and Linda have made 8 trips to New Orleans to assist in the rebuilding effort. The first trip was in April 2006 with the Maine Conference and most recently in November 2011 with a group composed primarily of Presbyterians from NY. They enjoy traveling, gardening, hiking and reading. They reside with their cat, Sammy, who lives to be fed twice a day.
